Prophecy or Divination?

As an after thought to my thoughts on Prophesy: Aren’t Prophecy and Divination the same thing? To me yes, but to some the differentiation is in the method, unaided, by dreams or in a trance state would be prophesy while a mechanical means such as the runes, bones or cards would be divination.

However whether tools are used or not the seers rely on their psychic abilities to get the results. My mother preferred dreams, I prefer the runes and there maybe lies the great differences between the Volva and the Vitki. The volva being female and the vitki’s being generally male and also females being naturally more psychic than men, though that is not to say that the volva didn’t cast the bones or the runes on occasion.

Essentially the paths of the Volva and Vitki are very individualistic, we are all on a journey to find our own truths and how we interpret those truths is unique to the individual. I certainly do not do things exactly the same way as my mentors did and I am sure those I have taught will have found their own way of expressing their power. So I suppose Prophesy is the art and divination the method!
